Summary
As the 200th anniversary of the Headless Horseman's legendary haunting of Sleepy Hollow nears, Kat van Tassel wants nothing to do with the celebrations or the town's superstitions. Though she feels bound to her famous family's farm and beholden to the legacy of her many-times-great-grandmother Katrina van Tassel—not to mention attached to her longtime boyfriend, Bram—Kat longs to experience life outside Sleepy Hollow.
Then Kat meets Isadora, a new student who opens Kat’s eyes: to how terribly Bram has been treating her, to the possibility that magic is real, and to who she truly wants to be…and be with.
But as Kat reads through Katrina van Tassel’s diary, she discovers more similarities than she expected between her own life and Katrina's, and she begins noticing strange forces taking shape in Sleepy Hollow. Could the Headless Horseman be returning? And can Kat uncover a 200-year-old secret, and trace its shocking reverberations in her own life, in time to protect what she truly loves?
