Summary

Kropotkin, Petr Alekseevich, kniaz (1842-1921) was a Russian prince known for his views an anarchist communism. From 1890 to 1896 the individual chapters were published as essays in the British magazine Nineteenth Century. Kropotkin believed that cooperation and mutual aid are as important in the evolution of the species as competition and mutual strife, if not more so. Kropotkin time in Siberia observing animal behavior helped him form his conclusions. Essays included are Mutual Aid Among Animals, Mutual Aid Among Savages, Mutual Aid Among Barbarians, Mutual Aid in the Mediaeval City, and Mutual Aid Amongst Ourselves.
