Author Biography

Louisa May Alcott (1832-û1888), one of four daughters, grew up in an intellectual environment that encouraged her passion for words. In addition to writing, she served as a nurse during the Civil War.
Jane Smiley is the Pulitzer Prize-ûwinning author of more than ten novels and four works of nonfiction.
Julie Doucet is the creator of the comic book Dirty Plotte and the Firecracker Alternative Book Award-ûwinning graphic novel New York Diary.
