An essay by the author Lucante is included. The book is published to coincide with an exhibition ofachtwey's work at the International Centre of Photography, New York.

Author Biography

James Nachtwey (b.1948) is one of the world's most highly respected photojournalists. His photographs have appeared regularly in Time, Life, Newsweek and National Geographic.

Luc Sante is the author of Low Life, Evidence and The Factory of Facts and, most recently, Walker Evans. He is Visiting Professor at Bard College, New York.
