Author Biography

Ray Smith has been a visiting lecturer at many art schools in the UK, including Chelsea School of Art, and the University of Plymouth. Ray's work ranges from commissioned portraits in oils to major public art projects, such as Making Waves in Teignmouth, Devon, which is one of the largest fiber-optic lighting artworks in Europe. As Lead Artist for the new Bristol Royal Children's Hospital, Ray combined the latest technologies such as digitally printed laminates, aqua-jet cut vinyl, and laser-cut metal, with more traditional aspects of color theory, in his innovative interior designs. Ray has won a number of awards, including a Linbury Trust Artist's Award and a Royal Society of Arts Art for Architecture Award, and his work is represented in ten major public collections both in the UK and abroad. He has also written and illustrated a number of award-winning books, which have been published worldwide.
