Summary

Years ago, the vermin clan of Sawney Rath kidnapped one of Redwall's own-a baby otter, destined to become their "Taggerung," a warrior hero of ancient legend. But as young Tagg grows, he rebels against his destiny. The young otter journeys in search of his birthplace, a member of Sawney's clan always near, out to destroy the deserter. With the feisty mouse Nimbalo, Tagg fends off the avenging vermin, but can he find his way back to the Redwall family from whom he was separated so long ago? Here is all of the excitement and adventure a Redwall fan could wish for!

Author Biography

Brian Jacques says: "Otters are brave and faithful friends of Redwall, and so the Taggerung is a tale of otters. "One peaceful summer morning, a big male otter carries his newborn cub through Mossflower Woods to the water that runs from the river to the sea. The babe delights his father by taking to the water and swimming straight away. But this is no ordinary babe. In the palm of his right paw is a four-petal mark, like a tiny blossom which, unknown to his family and friends, marks him as a creature apart. From the bushes a ferret is drawing his bow.... "So begins a tale of deceit, treachery, and betrayal-but also adventure, loyalty, and courage-where the true spirit of Redwall is tested to the full." Brian Jacques is the author of the best-selling Redwall novels, as well as many related books. He was born and still lives in Liverpool, England. Visit his Web site at www.redwall.org.
